It works with 8mm bearings, and Warehouse Skateboards highly recommends it for those who like to live a little and don't use spacers in their wheels.  

Protect your investment in your bearings and your trucks. Bearing presses are nice but large and not suitable for the skater on the go. Removing precision bearings using truck axles can strip the axle thread, damage the bearing outright, and/or cause the bearing to not sit flush on the wheel seat within the wheel well.
