Powell Skateboards History

Powell Skateboards has been at the forefront as the industry leader since skateboarding was introduced to the public. The masterminds behind the 1976 company start up were George Powell and Stacy Peralta. The company is widely known as founders of the legendary Bones Brigade.

Powell Peralta Skateboards introduced some of the first and most impressive skate videos of all times. The company was the gateway sponsor for many of the top pros that we grew up following. They even sponsored pros that still continue to pursue their successful professional skateboarding careers.

Powell Skateboards is based in Santa Barbara, California and still continues to operate with full force, turning out a wide variety of high quality products for the new and traditional skateboarders. They are a major factor in the strong global presence of skateboarding.

Powell Skateboards Construction Technology

Powell Skateboards are made with hard American maple. The decks are fabricated with the unique AirLam™ press giving it an overall lightweight and durable deck construction. They incorporate a variety of deck concave.

  • Classic Spoon Nose has a similar design to the construction of the Original Powell Peralta Spoon Nose
  • K15 Concave is a step up from the K10 concave. This deck features a double kick nose with a deep, smoother concave. It has a longer wheelbase for a more controlled and secure feel.
  • K10 Concave incorporates the classic Powell Peralta graphic while providing functionally larger shapes.
  • Ki11 Concave has a deep concave but is flat in the nose and tail.
  • K12 Concave has a deep concave but has a smaller wheelbase for the smaller skateboarders.
  • FK1 is an overall flat deck with some rocker and tail kick.
