“The first final of the Dew Tour season is in the books with the Vert finals at the Skate Open, ISF Skateboarding World Championships, and Pierre-Luc Gagnon is going home the winner. Two more familiar faces joined him on the podium, with Sandro Dias in second and local boy Andy MacDonald in third.
What was missing, though, were a few veterans that didn’t make the cut, including defending Dew Cup champ Bucky Lasek, and switch skater extraordinaire Bob Burnquist. At the beginning of the finals, 10 skaters were broken into two five-man jam sessions. From there, the field was narrowed down to the top five overall; Dias, MacDonald, 15-year-old Brazilian Pedro Barros, Pierre-Luc Gagnon and Adam Taylor. With such heavy hitters taking to the vert ramps, the final 13-minute jam session proved that it’s going to be an interesting season on the 2010 Dew Tour. Dias kicked things off with a series of strong runs, hitting the gnar jar time and time again. With consistency playing a major factor in the finals, Andy Mac put the pressure on by nailing trick after trick, including a frontside blunt on the extension and multiple consistent runs.”
