There’s been rumors circling around that after the Maloof Money Cup scaled down their Magic Trade Show event and cancelled its contest at the Huntington Beach Skatepark that the Maloofs were pulling out of skateboarding completely. Turns out they’re just rumors and The MMC is still going strong into 2012.
After a huge success at the South African Maloof Money Cup event where the event had to be closed down every day because too many people showed up, the MMC is helping spread skateboarding worldwide. It was almost like a mini Olympics with an opening ceremony, fireworks, and entertainment that drew millions of online streams from the United States..
As for the Huntington Beach situation, event coordinators weren’t expecting it to go down like that. Underestimating the amount of time it would take to construct the skate park and the scheduling of the event prevent the event from being held this year. But don’t worry, the Maloof Cup is planning to take over the world by adding two more country stops this year. Hoping to do three events outside the US this year with more in the year 2013, it is safe to say that the Maloof Money Cup isn’t going away anytime soon!
