Word on the street is that there is a school in Virginia that offers skateboarding as apart of its gym class curriculum. Nansemond-Suffolk Academy in Suffolk, Virgina recently introduced their students to skateboarding thanks to Physical Education teacher Terry Crigger. Nansemond-Suffolk Academy isn’t the only school to to offer skateboarding in gym, there are several schools in California and New York that provide similar programs.
If you are interested in introducing a skateboarding program into your gym class curriculum, check out the Skate Pass Program. Based in Colorado, Skate Pass Program is a non-profit organization that provides step-by-step instructions on how to bring skateboarding to your school. They can even help you find grants that are designed to incorporate skating into school’s curriculums.
