Zoo York Skateboards History
Zoo York was officially established as a company in 1993 by Rodney Smith, Eli Morgan Gessner, and Adam Schatz. Its original roots were planted in the ’70s by New York graffiti artists. The crew resided in Riverside Park and the Upper West Side of Manhattan and was known as the Soul Artists of Zoo York. They represented more than just artists; they represented skaters, hip-hop and b-boy crews, punks, and any outcasts during their time.
Zoo York was recently sold to Mark Ecko. It is a U.S.-based company that focuses on the lifestyle of the surf, skate, BMX, snow, and motocross industries. The brand design encompasses the old Zoo York Tunnel graffiti and style. The company has grown into a well-recognized street label.
