Always Good to See New Skate Parks in the NC

Life is good for Durham and surrounding skaters. A new concrete park is being constructed in Durham, NC and will be open for use on November 7th. SkateNC has a couple pictures of the new park in construction, the bowl looks like a blast! If you are in the area go to the official opening, the boys from Toy Machine will be there doing a demo.

SoCal Skate Park Shutdown Twice in 2 Months

California and their stickler rules! San Marcos closed the park down twice this month because people were not following the safety rules. Wear your skateboard helmet kids!!!!

Don’t miss the deadline for the Tony Hawk skate park grant

If your city doesn’t have a skate park, you might qualify for $1,000 to $25,000 in grant money for the planning and construction of a skate park near you from the Tony Hawk Foundation.

According to the LA Times, the Tony Hawk Foundation “has awarded more than $2.3 million to partially fund nearly 400 skatepark projects nationwide in the past six years. The foundation reports that 256 of those projects now are open and being used by an estimated 2.3 million riders annually.” Many of these projects were spearheaded by skaters like you.

Check out the official grant application, and make sure you get it filled out by the March 2 deadline!
